Dr. David Killeen brings a unique blend of clinical practice, academic rigor, and cross-cultural educational experience to his work in point-of-care ultrasound.
During college David worked as an EMT at a busy rescue squad, gaining valve insight into the importance of timely medical care. After completing a Master’s degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education from La Universidad de Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, Spain, Dr. Killeen began his professional life as a classroom teacher. His passion for education and service ultimately led him to medicine, where he received his MD from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA.
He completed his Family Medicine residency at New York Presbyterian – Columbia University, where he developed a deep interest in clinical ultrasound. This interest led
him to pursue a competitive fellowship in Clinical Ultrasound at the University of Pennsylvania — becoming the first family medicine fellow at Penn to work across both inpatient and outpatient settings, teaching medical students, residents and attendings across specialties.
Dr. Killeen has since become a nationally recognized advocate for expanding POCUS access, particularly in primary care and underserved communities. He currently practices at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), where he developed and leads an in-house ultrasound program designed to serve as a scalable model for similar clinics nationwide.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Killeen is a dedicated educator. He has trained medical students, residents, and attending physicians across the U.S. and internationally, with teaching experience in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Spain, and along the U.S.-Mexico border.
